Orlando — Concerts outside, seated in private pods, with food delivered to your seat from local restaurants — the Frontyard Festival has been such at hit at Downtown Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts that it will remain for the next few months. Originally slated to end as the pandemic wound down, the program will instead not only continue: It’s getting bigger. More pods will be added to seat a total of 4,500 guests thanks to $500,000 given through the Board of County Commissioners.
All kinds of shows and events are on the schedule already. Here’s a sampling.
July 18—Country music star Travis Tritt
July 26—British progressive band King Crimson
August 1—Jazz artists Dave Koz & Friends featuring Kirk Whalum, Mindi Abair and Vincent Ingala
November 12—80s ballad band Air Supply
November 13—Trio Mary Chapin Carpenter, Marc Cohn and Shawn Colvin
December 4: Jazz legend Wynton Marsalis with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra
December 9—Motown’s Four Tops and The Temptations
December 11—Singer-songwriter David Foster
Additional programming will involve trivia nights, family movies, jazz brunches, the Bach Festival Orchestra and Choir, FusionFest, and the Songs of the Season holiday concert with Rollins College and Full Sail University.
