Orlando—Orlando has never forgotten the tragic mass shooting at the Pulse Nightclub, where 49 people were killed, 53 injured and many others traumatized. On June 12 at 5pm, the Orlando Museum of Art will unveil “Inspiration Orlando United,” a 44-foot-by14-foot mural memorializing the event and its victims. The event will be free and open to the public. The mural will be free for viewing, too, June 13 through 16 during regular museum hours. The mural will be by artists Michael Pilato, Yuriy Karabash and Chimene Hurst, and will represent those who died on the scene or within a year afterward as well as some “survivors, inspirational first responders, and passionate caregivers,” a spokesperson says. Sponsors include Del Ambiente, an LGBTQ Puerto Rican not-for-profit, AARP, the Hispanic Federation and Arte Mundial Gallery.
