Orlando – Diners with dementia, along with family members and caregivers, are welcome to dine in a no-judge zone at The Meatball Stoppe on Thursdays starting January 23. For lunch through 6 p.m. each week, the restaurant’s owners encourage groups that include people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia to dine stress-free. “We personally want to make The Meatball Stoppe a place of comfort,” co-owner Isabella Morgia said in a prepared statement, noting that she and co-owner/husband Jeff have had relatives affected in this way. Staffers will be trained by Dementia-friendly Dining, headed up by Dennis Dulniak, with input by Toni Gitles, certified caregiving consultant and educator with Heart Light Enterprises, and Edith Gendron, chief of operations with the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center.
