Orlando—The Dr. Phillips Center of the Performing Arts has been named a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The designation recognizes the theater complex’s many actions, among them offering sensory-friendly shows, theater classes and camps. About 120 of the art center’s staffers have completed training in serving people with sensory needs, some of them furthering their education at the University of Central Florida’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) program. Only one other performing arts center in the United States has that certification. For more information, write to classes@drphillipscenter.org.
