Winter Park, Florida — Sweet little sandwich shop George’s Cafe is cooking home comfort-food lunches and dinners from its Winter Park location. Owners George Paul and Alice Eide still serve up the sandwiches for which they’re known, along with salads and chili. New signature to-go meals are chicken Marsala or turkey and dressing ($17.95pp), or prime rib of beef, braised short ribs of beef, or panko-encrusted salmon with Bearnaise and capers ($21.95pp). Each entree is served with mashed potatoes or wild rice, asparagus or maple-glazed baby carrots, and banana bread, plus either cookies, cheesecake or carrot cake. The cafe is open Monday through Saturdays 11m to 3pm. Order dinners by 11am for curbside pick-up between 3pm and 4pm. The lunch menu is here and the dinner menu is here. I’ll add it soon.
