Orlando -- Two related Winter Park gastropubs, The Ravenous Pig and Cask & Larder, will merge this December. The original, 10-year-old, Orange Avenue Pig will close, but it's name will appear on the door of the current Cask & Larder, located a few blocks away where Fairbanks and Pennsylvania avenues meet.
Cask & Larder won't disappear, though. On October 15, a 6,000-square-foot version opened inside Orlando International Airport. It's run in conjunction with chef Johnny Rivers, who has airport foodservice experience. The new 390-seat restaurant will have a take-out shop, housemade beers, and gin and tonics on tap.
An industry vet named Fred Thimm will open Reel Fish Coastal Kitchen and Bar in the original Pig space.
