Tavares -- Empty Bowls is a fun event planned to help raise funds for Lake County, Florida's  hungry residents.

First, locals are invited to donate bowls. The county is looking for 1,000, whether hand-crafted pottery or simply thrift store finds. Bowls should be dropped off at 2001 W. Old Highway 441, Suite #1, Mount Dora.

Then, 1,000 guests, if all goes as planned, will meet up for a soup dinner at Wooton Park. There, while listening to live music and watching the strolling Michelee Puppets perform, participants will go soup-nuts. Each person will receive two bowls of soup plus bread, water and the bowl itself. Price: $10. Various vendors will provide the soups, and guests will be invited to vote for the best.
